Meet UrbanGardenSeeds.com founder, Andrew Johnson. Born and raised in historic Stillwater, the birthplace of Minnesota, he was the youngest of three siblings. Andrew has long dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur. At the ripe age of 12, his dream became a reality when he started his own lawn mowing business. Helping the neighbors, while nurturing the environment, gave him a great sense of accomplishment.
The fire never stopped burning. He grew up to be a man of many talents. His fascination with cars landed him a management position with an auto dealership. His talent in building and construction revealed itself when he bought his first house at age 24. This house became his own version of “extreme makeover”, which he ended up selling for a profit.
When he bought his second home at age 28, he visualized his home to have a rooftop garden. This is where the Urban Garden Seed was sown. As a philanthropist, Andrew’s philosophy is simple. Food should come from the earth, not from a factory. His focus on being mindful, resourceful and helping customers is a recipe for success. As the population increases, the earth will not be able to provide resources for mass production.
As a man who someday wants to have a family of his own, Andrew wants to help ensure the future generation will have a good quality of life to “grow on”.
Urban Garden Seeds is a company that continues to strive towards a sustainable planet. Future plans include; training workshops for children, a community garden to feed the community, and donations to Gardening Matters (gardeningmatters.org). To stay active and give back, the Urban Garden Seeds Team will brave the Minnesota winter to participate in the the St. Patrick’s Day 5k run with benefits going towards the Children’s Hospital of MN.
We encourage you to be part of our mission towards sustainability. It does take a whole village. Grow with us. Grow on.
