Healthy Body, Strong Community, Bright Future.
What would you do on a typical, wintery Saturday morning? Perhaps sleep in or sip a hot cup of coffee while waiting for brunch to be served? Such was not the case for a thousand of brave Minnesotans. On Saturday March 15th, the Urban Garden Seeds Team conquered the 18 ℉ weather and conquered the run around Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. Despite the freezing temperature, everyone was in good spirits because of the cause. A portion of the Everybody’s Irish 5k proceeds went towards research and funding for the Children’s Hospital of Minnesota.
Everywhere I looked, people were full of energy and excitement. We all wanted to be there. Some were in bright costumes, and then there were the more comical ones with fake red Irish beard and over the top accessories. Along the way, spectators rang the cow bell, cheering on as runners passed. As a first time participant in a run, I definitely picked up some of this energy as I eventually made it to the finish line. The Urban Garden Seeds Team, although we completed the run at a different pace, we all had one goal in mind: building a mindful, healthy society.
Winston Churchill said, “healthy citizens are the greatest asset any country can have”. So, why not start within your community and join the movement?
We look forward to our next adventure as we continue our journey towards simple, organic living. Join in, and Grow On.
