Growing towards Sustainability
“We’re reaching the point where the Earth will have to end the burden we’ve placed on her, if we don’t lift the burden ourselves”~Steven M. Greer
In a society which requires everything “on-demand”, an excess amount of stress has been placed on natural resources such as soil and water. According to the World Soil Resources report, approximately 1.3 billion tons of food is being wasted every year. The global effect of such wastefulness is beyond belief, the domino effect will inevitably deplete these vital resources. What does the future hold?
It is time for us to take a break from the “feed the world” mentality and look at how we can feed ourselves, locally and organically. Knowledge is power. Educating ourselves, using the resources within the local community and learning to grow our own food will eventually break us free from the “waste cycle”. Let’s grow towards a sustainable future.
